Alex is Head of Public Affairs for The Big Issue Group. She’s based in Parliament, and heads up Co-Founder of The Big Issue, Lord John Bird’s parliamentary office. She runs the Big Futures campaign, as well as the All-Party-Parliamentary Group on Business Responses to Social Crises. Prior to that she served as a Green Party Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for South East England from 2019 to 2020, and championed a Green New Deal. Alex has served as a local councillor in Brighton and Hove for the last 14 years, during which time she was the youngest Mayor, focussing her time on the plight of women and children living in poverty. Outside of her political roles, she has worked as the Policy Lead for the HIV and sexual health charity, Terrence Higgins Trust, where she successfully campaigned for compulsory Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) in all schools.
